Kasi Collabo is an initiative of The Wot-If? Trust, a Diepsloot-based Social Enterprise. Our mandate is to empower township entrepreneurs by providing access to skills, resources and market. Since 2019, we have been running a Kasi creative “propeller”, focused particularly on fast-tracking creative entrepreneurs on the path to success.

The creative economy has been identified by the United Nations Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR) as one of the most dynamic sectors of the global economy with a powerful transformative force for socio-economic development. Like most townships, Diepsloot is culturally rich but economically disadvantaged, characterised by high unemployment, poverty and inequality. Township creatives struggle to compete in their fields not only because they lack access to resources, but also because of the negative stigma attached to the township and its residents.

Kasi Collabo is designed to challenge those stereotypes by showcasing the amazing talent of township creatives.
